The mission of Mississippi First is to advocate the best public policy solutions and to revitalize Mississippi’s democracy. We seek to partner with policy makers, politicians, and the public to identify priority problems, research solutions, advocate for our recommendations, and evaluate the implementation of relevant policies.

Mississippi First is a non-partisan, non-profit organization. In 2009, we received our 501(c)3 status and registered as a charity with the Mississippi Secretary of State's office.  However, until we grow to a larger size financially, our Board has opted to continue contracting with the Public Policy Center of Mississippi to serve as our tax-exempt fiscal agent.  In this arrangement, the PPC keeps our funds in trust, including maintaining our financial records, managing our payroll, and complying with IRS regulations.  Because of this relationship, donations to Mississippi First are made to the Public Policy Center and earmarked for us.
