Mississippi House Passes Bill To Track Children

Mississippi House of Representatives--February 23, 2011

The Mississippi house has passed the HB 608 which will establish a longitudinal data system to track education and student outcomes in the workforce over a lifetime.

The funding will come from the Federal Department of Education.

State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS); establishment.

(1)  To improve quality of life, education and employment opportunities for all citizens, the appropriate agencies of the State of Mississippi listed in subsection

(2) of this section shall develop and maintain a State Longitudinal Data System (SLDS). 

The system shall allow stakeholders and policymakers to access data on state residents from birth to the workforce to drive accountability and investment decisions. 

The system shall include data from multiple state agencies and entities.
