Mississippi First Releases Video to Explain the 27% Rule

[Editor’s note: This video looks at how the 27% rule affects school funding using EdBuild’s calculated totals for each district as well as current millage rates and mill values. Using MAEP’s calculated totals with the same millage rates and mill values results in a very similar outcome, with the state “bonus” actually being larger. This video does not compare EdBuild’s totals to MAEP’s totals. We will do another video about that, including why some districts benefiting from the 27% rule will still be better off under EdBuild’s formula, even if the 27% rule is eliminated.]
