Evidence-Based Interventions to Leverage MSFF Funds
Mississippi First is excited to announce the release of our newest brief: Evidence-Based Interventions to Leverage MSFF Funds.
In 2024, the Mississippi Legislature passed the Mississippi Student Funding Formula (MSFF), ushering in a new approach to public school funding. Under the MSFF, the majority of school districts receive more state funding than they did through the state’s previous school funding formula, the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP).
The purpose of Evidence-Based Interventions is to provide school districts and charter schools with information on research-backed strategies they can consider when spending the additional funds they receive through the MSFF.
The brief includes:
- Descriptions of high-impact interventions
- An overview of the research behind each strategy
- Examples of Mississippi districts or schools implementing each strategy, if applicable
We do not intend for our recommendations to be prescriptive; rather, this brief offers evidence-based options to support decision-making. We encourage school leaders to begin by evaluating the challenges they wish to address and use this resource to guide their strategies.
We are excited about the promise that the MSFF holds for our state and look forward to seeing how schools across the state use these funds to drive student achievement.
